Bonjour, a mandatory word in France
In France there is a word pronounced several dozen times a day: “Bonjour” (i.e. “Hello”). This preliminary form of politeness is so widespread that one can almost think that it is universal. But it is not. Bonjour, un mot incontournable en France
En France il y a un mot qu’on prononce plusieurs dizaines de fois par jour : c’est le mot « bonjour ». Cette entrée en en matière est tellement répandue qu’on peut presque penser qu’elle est universelle. Pourtant il n’en est rien. Je lis de temps en temps ici et là des articles étrangers (écrits en particulier par des anglophones) sur l’importance de ce mot et combien son emploi en France est surprenant. Je ne sais pas si vous connaissez cette « nouvelle » tradition de Noël anglo-saxonne mais je vous suggère de vous y intéresser, car comme beaucoup d’autres traditions, je parie que celle-ci va aussi nous envahir tôt ou tard.
